Using the service

To use this service you must be over 18 and have the bill payer's permission.

Call costs

Calls to 0871 numbers cost 10p per minute at all times from a BT landline. Calls to 0845 local rate numbers cost 4p in the daytime, and 1p in the evening and at weekends from a BT landline. Calls to 0844 numbers cost 4p per minute at all times. Other networks vary. Calls to these numbers from mobiles will probably be charged at a higher rate, please contact your mobile provider for exact rates

Sending messages

You will be charged your standard network rate to send messages into the service. Please be aware that they may not be included within your monthly bundle. Please contact your network operator for exact charges.

Registration

Registration is possible either by calling a phone line or via SMS. Data will be held for means of match allocation only.  You have the right to cancel the service at anytime and request that your details are removed from our database.

Location-based services

This service uses the location of your mobile phone to return relevant results. The location of your phone is calculated roughly, using triangulation between mobile phone masts, to show your local area. It is not pinpointed exactly. The service then uses your given location to match you. Please note that not all mobile networks allow location-based services and if your network does not then you will be asked to supply the first part of your postcode.

£10 match guarantee

The £10 match guarantee works on the following principle – if we don't find a match for you within a 15 mile radius, within 5 minutes of triangulating your mobile, and forward their details to you as a text message to which you can respond, we will pay you £10, in the form of a cheque deliverable on request. Please note that incomplete details (such as your age texted in in the incorrect format, or an incorrect postcode) which cause delays will exclude you receiving the £10 payment. Only if we cannot find you a match after receiving your correct details within 5 minutes in the correct format will we pay you £10. In addition, we are not responsible for network delays which cause delayed receipt of match messages, or for delays caused by lack of reception or your phone being switched off or otherwise unavailable. Disputes will be resolved by recourse to our logs.

Please note that the following areas are excluded from the £10 guarantee because of low density of population:

Hebrides, Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, Scilly Isles, Highlands of Scotland

Charges

All messages that start with the word ‘Freemsg' are free for you to receive. Your initial match message and any other message received from your match (including picture messages) will be charged at £1.50. If you wish to send a picture message to your match this will also cost £1.50, in the form of a reverse billed text message which will be sent to your phone.

Leaving the service

If you would like to stop your conversation, and the charging, at any point simply text STOP to the short code you are receiving messages from.
